At Behavioral Treatment Services we have a Personal commitment to give you the level of compassion and service that you deserve. We will assist you in finding answers to your concerns about your child.
We usually find that focusing on a behavior will be helpful to the child’s learning how to control themselves better. Simply put, medications are not always the answer, although sometimes medications assist the child in being available to learn.
Developmentally the learning process changes with each child as they mature. Sometimes children, who learn slowly as toddlers, later mature and learn with an accelerated process. Even young children who are labeled hyperactive later find challenges that help them focus on learning at a higher level. We prefer to have the child utilize medications only to facilitate the learning process when absolutely necessary. Our program helps children gain perspective, self-awareness, lose bad habits, and learn tools for life, such as: accountability, responsibility, integrity, respect, and self-esteem.
Behavioral Treatment Services incorporates behavior therapy into their program. This approach increases the frequency of desirable behavior by increasing the child’s interest in pleasing parents and by providing positive consequences when the child behaves. Consequently, identifying inappropriate behavior and its negative consequences results in reducing negative behaviors. This program will also assist parents in providing consistent consequences when such behaviors occur and promote rebuilding family unity.
Terri Muegerl LMSW started Behavioral Treatment Services in June 2004. She is commited to treating children and has a unique vision to serve at-risk children to equip them and their families with the skills necessary to be successful, happy and healthy. This vision includes the entire family in the treatment of the child, allowing for a higher chance of success.
